Gursoch wears the NYPD symbol in the front of her blue turban. In 2016 a massive lobbying by the Sikh community was consented to, which permitted wearing of the badge on the turban.

38. MANDEEP SINGH

Mandeep is an Indian cricketer. He plays for Punjab in the top-flight of Indian cricket. An attacking right-hand batsman who also occasionally bowls right arm medium pace, Mandeep has also played for India Blue cricket team and North Zone and is currently a part of the Kings XI Punjab squad in the IPL. He has also played for Kolkata Knight Riders in the 2010 edition of the IPL. He was the vice-captain of the India Under-19 cricket team for the 2010 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup.

Gurmehar is an Indian student activist and author. She currently pursuing her Master’s from Somerville College, Oxford University. Karenjeet is heading to the World Classic Power Lifting Championships in Sweden in June. She is the first Sikh woman to compete for Britain at the event. The 63kg Junior Power Lifter most recently competed at the Women’s British University Championships in April and brought home third place with a 375kg total.

Commonly known as Kiran, she is a Malaysian model and beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Miss Universe Malaysia 2016. She represented her country at Miss Universe 2017 in Manila, Philippines. Besides the main title, she was also awarded ‘Miss My Dentist Winning Smile’ she also walked for the L’Oréal Professionnel Colour For Life hair fashion charity event alongside Deborah Henry and supermodel, Amber Chia.

Harnam is the Sikh student who broke strict religious protocol to save a boy’s life. He is known around the world for removing his turban to put underneath the head of six year old Daejon Pahia when he was hit by a car in Australia. The DuMalla style of turban can be transcribed as meaning ‘two turbans’. Warrior Sikhs used this extra material for treatment of wounds and injuries whilst in battle.

45. GURSIMRAN SINGH BHULLAR

Sim Bhullar is a Canadian professional basketball player. He played college basketball for New Mexico State University and is the first player of Indian descent to play in the NBA. At 7’5″, he also became the sixth-tallest player in NBA history. In 2016, he signed with the Dacin Tigers of the Taiwanese Super Basketball League in 2017 then signed with Guangxi Rhino of the National Basketball League the second-tier league of China.

46. SATNAM SINGH BHAMRA

Satnam is an Indian professional basketball player for the St. John’s Edge of the National Basketball League of Canada (NBL). He became the first Indian player to be drafted into the National Basketball Association (NBA) when the Dallas Mavericks selected him with the 52nd overall pick of the 2015 NBA draft. 49. AMAN SINGH GULATI

Aman is an Indian visual artist. He uniquely paints portraits on almonds. He learnt to paint from his mother Bhavna Kaur Gulati. He completed his 12th grade in 2019 and joined a college for fine arts. Aman painted a 1225 sq ft puzzle portrait of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji and the world’s first almond portrait series called ‘Souls of Sikhism’ launched by Om Birla. In 2018 he honoured at The Sikh Awards for his contribution to art.

50. JASPRIT SINGH BUMRAH

Jasprit is an Indian cricketer who plays for the Indian national cricket team in all formats of the game. After successful seasons with the Mumbai Indians at the Indian Premier League and with his domestic team Gujarat, he made his debut in One Day Internationals and Twenty20 Internationals in the 2015-16 series against Australia. He is the first Asian bowler to take 5 wickets in a test innings in South Africa, England and Australia during the same calendar year.

Munsimar was told “no you can’t play, because you’re a terrorist” by a group of teenagers in a park. She shared her ordeal in a heartbreaking video on her dad’s Instagram account. 52. JUJHAR SINGH KHAIRA

Jujhar is a Canadian professional ice hockey centre for the Edmonton Oilers of the National Hockey League (NHL). On January 16, 2017, Khaira scored his first NHL goal, against Mike Smith of the Arizona Coyotes. On December 9 of the same year, Khaira earned his first multi-goal game, scoring twice against Carey Price of the Montreal Canadians.

53. KABIR SINGH

Kabir is the youngest Indian and Sikh serving as a PTE in the Territorial Forces-Infantry Regiment in the New Zealand Army. He applied in the Army at the age of 18 and went off to do his basic training earlier this year and graduated to become a soldier. He comes from a family who has been serving in the Indian Army and Indian Air Force for the past three generations.

56. AMRINDER RANJIT SINGH

Amrinder joined Mumbai City FC for the Hero ISL 2016 after previously representing ATK, Bengaluru FC and Pune FC at different stages in his career. Amrinder kept five clean sheets in six matches for the Islanders in 2016, thus winning the Golden Glove Award. The 2017-18 campaign proved to be even better for the goalkeeper as he finished with 55 saves – the most by any keeper in the league.

Samrath Singh ’22 grew up in New Jersey. His baseball debut was February 29, 2020, BC played a game against Fairfield University that quickly turned into a laugher. When Fairfield came to bat in the bottom of the ninth, they were behind 19-6. Standing on the mound to get the last three outs for BC was Samrath Singh. His appearance marked not just his Boston College debut, but also, as near as can be determined, the first time that an observant Sikh had ever played in a Division 1 baseball game.

Karan is an American actor. He portrayed Chirag Gupta in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid film franchise and Ravi Ross on the Disney Channel Original Series Jessie and its subsequent spin-off Bunk’d. He began his acting career at the age of 11, starring as Indian middle schooler Chirag Gupta in the comedy feature film Diary of a Wimpy Kid. In 2018, he had a role in the sci-fi movie Pacific Rim: Uprising.

Gurpreet began his professional football journey with East Bengal in 2012. He then joined Norway based Stabaek Football in 2014. He became the first Indian to feature in a UEFA Europa League match. Simran Singh from Perth has received his licence for solo piloting at the domestic airport Jundakot’s Royal Aero Club. At present Simran is a student of Rosemine Senior High School. As well as his regular studies, he also joined the Australian Air Force as a cadet. The entire Sikh community in Western Australia are extremely proud of Simran becoming the first Sikh Cadet in Air Force.

65. PRABHSUKHAN SINGH GILL

Prabhsukhan, currently 18 years old, had a stellar domestic season in the Hero I-League 2018-19 for the Indian Arrows. He also emerged as the team’s hero during the young Arrows team’s memorable victory over Kerala Blasters FC in the Hero Super Cup 2019 qualifiers. Prabhsukhan was also a part of the 21-man India side for the FIFA U-17 World Cup in 2017.

66. GERMANPREET SINGH

Anaik Singh is 9 years old. He started Anaik’s Loving Library in May 2020 when his mom and grandmother contracted Covid. For his 8th birthday, he wanted to do something to give back and help others so he came up with the idea of Loving Library – a mini library to help isolated Covid hospital patients escape loneliness. Before Anaik’s Loving Library, Anaik was active in his community – he advocated for the Arizona Board of Education to update school curriculum to be more inclusive of other cultures and religions and he was also asked by the Mayor of Phoenix to say the Pledge of Allegiance at her inauguration.

Harsimran Kaur is a 16yr old Indian author who has written and published two books. She started writing poems and short stories at the age of ten. At 14, she published a poetry collection of 60 poems and a book with around 25,000 words. She is also founder of Pastlores – an online history club where she connects with people and researchers across the globe and discusses about various elements of History. She is researching Mesopotamian Civilization, under her unnamed new project and will be publishing a research paper soon. She has recently been recognised for having the maximum colours of poetry in one book by the India Book of Records organisation.
